Sustainability is a concept that has gone mainstream, however our use of natural resources has risen since the introduction of the term in the 1980s. Today humanity uses equivalent to 1.6 of the Earth’s resources, with predictions by 2030 we’ll be using two Earths to support us. And, we’ve only got one.

Thank you to all that came along for the Open House Day, we had just under 90 visitors attending this national event and interested in what is possible with sustainable living at our Sustainable Country Styled Home.

This Sunday 11th September, our Design as well as some of Australia’s most environmentally progressive homes will be open for show as part of the Sustainable House Day. This unique peer to peer education is a valuable resource for anyone looking for inspiration, ideas and the key to sustainable living.

A lecturer once told me that when asking her students to design a household to become more sustainable, students would immediately pick out the technological elements for change e.g. solar panels, thermal insulation and efficient lighting. It is only at second thought do they realise that sustainable behaviour practices play just as much of a role in sustainability
